Core Employer Benefits
Life Cover
Lump sum cover payable to nominated beneficiaries if an employee passes away. Levels of cover are set as multiples of annual salary (up to defined maximums), allowing you to tailor protection to different employee groups. Free cover limits apply so that most employees enjoy full cover without medical underwriting.
- Optional life cover enhancements include:
- Accident / Crime cover – additional life cover when death is due to accident or crime.
- Spouse life cover – life cover for spouses up to specified multiples of the employee’s salary.
- Education cover – supports children’s future education costs if a parent passes away.
- Forward cover – protects future increases in cover above the free cover limit without fresh medicals.
- Conversion option – ability for employees to continue life cover privately when leaving employment (up to a specified age).
- Repatriation service – transport of remains to a funeral home closest to the place of burial, subject to benefit limits.
Income Replacement Cover
Monthly income protection during periods of temporary or permanent disability, helping employees meet their monthly expenses while they are unable to work. Employers choose:
- The percentage of salary insured (up to defined limits).
- The waiting period (3, 6 or 12 months) before benefits commence.
- Annual benefit increase options to keep pace with inflation.
Cover can cater for both total and partial disability, with vocational rehabilitation support to help employees return to work wherever possible.
- Optional income replacement enhancements:
- Recovery bonus – lump sum benefit when an employee successfully returns to work after a sustained period on claim.
- Retirement fund waiver – continuation of retirement fund contributions while the employee is on disability claim (within limits).
- Medical scheme waiver – covers medical scheme contributions for the member and dependants during disability, up to specified maximums.
- Conversion option – option to continue cover privately when leaving employment (up to a specified age).
- Salary refund – refunds salaries paid during the waiting period, easing the employer’s cost burden.
Disability Cover (Lump Sum)
A once-off lump sum benefit if an employee becomes totally and permanently disabled, based on a multiple of annual salary up to defined maximums. When combined with income replacement cover, disability sums assured are aligned to ensure appropriate overall protection.
- Optional enhancements:
- Spouse disability cover – lump sum disability cover for spouses of employees.
- Conversion option – continue disability cover privately on exit from the scheme (up to a specified age).
Critical Illness Cover
Lump sum protection on diagnosis of specified critical illnesses, structured as a multiple of salary up to a defined maximum. Benefits are aligned with ASISA critical illness definitions and are scaled according to severity – from mild impairment through to most severe, with a percentage of the sum insured payable at each level.
Covered conditions include cancers, coronary artery bypass surgery, heart attack, major stroke, multiple sclerosis, heart valve replacement and more, with certain conditions paid at 100% of the sum insured (for example major organ transplant, advanced dementia, severe burns and others).
Free cover limits apply, and a conversion option can be selected so that employees may continue cover privately when they leave the group.
Funeral Cover
Fast-paying lump sum cover to assist with funeral and memorial costs when a member or covered family member passes away. Employers choose a sum insured (in set increments) for employees, spouses, children and extended family, with lower percentages of the main benefit applying to younger children and stillborn babies.
- Optional enhancements:
- Conversion option – employees may keep their funeral cover in a personal capacity if they leave the group (up to a specified age).
- Repatriation service – transport of remains to a funeral home nearest the place of burial within defined territories and benefit limits.
Gap Cover (Optional)
Optional group gap cover for employees who already belong to a registered medical scheme. It protects against shortfalls between the scheme tariff and actual charges from hospitals and medical specialists – including enhanced day-to-day benefits (GPs, dentists and specialists) when offered as part of the group bundle. Cover applies to all dependants registered on the employee’s medical scheme.
- Conversion option – continue gap cover privately after leaving the employer group.
- Gap cover waiver – premiums are waived while an employee is on an income replacement claim.
- Spouse cover – cover extends where the employee is a dependant on their spouse’s medical scheme.
Wellniciti Rewards – Embedded in Every Group Life Combination
Every Cinagi group life client automatically enjoys access to Wellniciti Rewards, our digital wellness and rewards programme. Wellniciti encourages healthy behaviour, improves awareness and helps reduce long-term claims and premiums.
Digitising the “Wellness Day”
- Employees download the mobile app and complete a 30-second face-scan to generate a VivaScore – a digital health score including indicators such as blood pressure, cardiovascular risk, stress, diabetes risk and mental wellbeing.
- Wearables and health apps (e.g. Apple Health, Google Health and leading fitness devices) can be linked for deeper insights into sleep, steps and activity levels.
- Employees can complete unlimited scans, building up a history of their personal health trends over time.
Rewards That Employees Actually Feel
- Members earn points for health-positive activities and regular health checks in the app.
- Points are redeemed monthly as digital vouchers with Wellniciti partners – employees can earn up to around R400 per month in rewards, often recouping a meaningful portion of their insurance cost.
Insight for Employers
- Aggregated, anonymous dashboards give employers a 360° view of workforce health – including risk factors, engagement and benchmark comparisons.
- Monthly reports highlight trends and recommendations to support wellness initiatives and reduce absenteeism and presenteeism.
Benefits to employers: Enhanced employee wellness, improved productivity, more sustainable risk profiles and better value from your group life premiums.
Wellniciti is a separate loyalty product sold and administered by Cinagi. The cost of Wellniciti is automatically included in the total monthly Cinagi benefit cost. Limits, terms and conditions apply.
